Join American Steam Railroad on Saturday, September 21, 2019, starting at 4:30 pm for an extraordinary event. Legend of steam, Ross Rowland will give a presentation about his career in railroad preservation from his early days to the American Freedom Train and Chessie Steam Special, along with how he was involved with our locomotive, Reading 2100.
Dinner will be catered by Ohio City BBQ inside the Midwest Railway Preservation Society’s working roundhouse near downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
Before the presentation, guests can see MRPS’s collection of equipment and take a short ride on a Pullman car that stared in the movie “The Natural,” along with taking an up-close look at the restoration currently done on Reading 2100.
There will also be live steam locomotive models on display including a fired-up Chesapeake & Ohio T-1 2-10-4 and a Reading G2 pacific on display. Guests will be also eligible for door prizes such as Fire Up 2100 hats, Nace Videography’s DVD of Howard Zane’s layout, and the grand prize is a custom painted Broadway Limited Reading 2100.
Also be sure to bring your camera, as a night photo shoot with the engine will take place after the presentation.
Tickets for the dinner are $99 per person, and seating is limited. Members of American Steam Railroad, Midwest Railway Preservation Society, and Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society receive a discounted rate of $89 please write firstname.lastname@example.org for the discount link.
All proceeds from the event will help with the restoration of Reading 2100.
Guests are asked to please wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Those with disabilities are welcomed but should know that the roundhouse and equipment are not ADA-accessible.
